HOW TO SELECT A CONTRACTOR
|
| 1. |
Check the company's
background with the appropriate agencies. i.e.: various licensing
bureaus, Better Business Bureau, State of Florida Department of
Professional Regulations |
| 2. |
If possible check out
any company prior to them coming to your home for an estimate. |
| 3. |
Does the company have all the proper
required up to date insurance coverage? |
| 4. |
What type of warranty
does the company provide for the materials and labor? Be sure to get
it in writing. |
| 5. |
Is the company doing
business out of a legitimate place of business? (Not their house,
garage or a PO Box) If there is an issue or problem, do you have
access to that company's place of business to voice or discuss such
issues. |
| 6. |
Will company pull all
the required building permits! This assures you that all work is
being done to code? |
| 7. |
Don't be fooled by big fancy
advertising, big ad's DO NOT necessarily mean that the company is a
large and credible business entity. |
| 8. |
Does the company have a list of
references that they can provide? |
| 9. |
Do you feel comfortable
with the representative and the company? |
| 10. |
Avoid cash discounts,
never ever pay cash. |
| 11. |
Do not give more than
50% deposit. |
|
12, |
Do not make a decision
to contract with a company because they are the lowest bidder. Very
often the lowest price means that you are not getting equal goods
for equal value, something may be left out or shortcuts are being
taken. |
|
It
is important to select a reputable company and a quality product. |
